FCDS V Girls Golf

John Kildahl
We had a successful start to the official season today up at Deep Springs CC in Stoneville, NC. The course has a lot of blind holes and some gnarly Bermuda greens. The girls did wonderful and stayed patient through a very long 18 hole round. We tied the hosts NW Guilford (who always has a strong squad) with a score of 270, and easily bested Northern and Wesleyan. Ava Gutshall - 82 (tied Medalist) Jeannie Reed - 99 Sara Insuasti - 106 Naya O'Neill - 101 Lila Kelly - 89 (nice debut!) Ava finished Birdie, Birdie, Par. Jeannie absolutely tatooed the driver all day long. Sara said she's a pro out of the bunkers now. Naya had a very strong 49 on the front. Lila had 2 birdies in her first ever competitive match. Congratulate the girls when you see them, they did awesome! The first round of the season is always a long one! I am so proud of the way ALL of the girls have started off the season! We had great back-to-back days of play at FCC, and the girls are easily playing under 2 hrs for 9 - which is great. I hope everyone enjoys the day off tomorrow and a great weekend.
