Be who you are. Show up as who you are. Be welcomed and welcome others as they are. That's what it means to belong at FCDS.
In the words of Brené Brown, “True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.” At Forsyth Country Day, we explore our individual and collective identities in order to know ourselves better. We value each person and support them as they work to reach their full potential, encourage innovation, and work to accept and integrate different beliefs and viewpoints within a single community.
Belonging - the state of self-acceptance and deep connectedness with others where you “come as you are” - is found at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is only by recognizing and celebrating all of the ways in which we are different, treating every group and every person with fairness and impartiality, and including all groups and individuals into our activities and decision-making processes that we can achieve belonging.
How Belonging is Integral to our Mission and Vision
Our Mission
Forsyth Country Day School is a community of learners dedicated to preparing our students for what’s ahead.
Our Vision
Know yourself. Connect with others. Build community.
Our school’s mission is what we do. Our vision is why we do it. You cannot show up as your authentic self if you don’t know who that is, so we work to help our students find that self. We actively encourage the process of self-discovery - delving into who we are, what makes us tick, and all the elements that shape us into the unique individuals we are. Then, we share ourselves with others, making connections. Maybe we’re alike. Maybe we’re different. Let’s learn more about one another together by having real conversations and making meaningful connections. In doing so, we build a community - dedicated to preparing our students for what’s ahead - where every single Fury - students, faculty, parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends - can feel like they belong.
