Barrineau Family Gift Will Transform Middle School Classrooms

Elly (Yousefpour) Barrineau ’98 and Barry Barrineau have donated more than $300,000 to FCDS to fund multiple initiatives, including modernizing the middle school classrooms.

The gift will allow the school to innovate classrooms for what’s ahead, name the Barrineau Family Welcome Center, provide security enhancements, and even give back to the community at large by establishing a fund to provide free food and coffee to local law enforcement personnel at the Fury Café. The gift also includes leadership support of the Forsyth Fund.

“We’re so grateful to Elly and Barry for this transformative gift,” said Interim Head of School Nathan Battle. “Their generosity will impact every area of the school, allowing us to update every Middle School classroom, make our school even safer, and deepen our meaningful partnership with local law enforcement in a way that gives back to both the school and the officers who serve our community.”

Elly and Barry were inspired to give by Elly’s experience at FCDS and by the impact the school is having on their sons, Vince and Cyrus. “The life skills and education I received at Forsyth profoundly demonstrated the immense value of a private school education. The experiences and lessons learned there have had a lasting impact on my personal and professional growth,” Elly said. “Now that we are in a position to do so, we feel compelled to give back, passing on the positive impact and supporting our community.”
