FCDS Junior Wins First Place at State Cross Country Meet
Congratulations to John Templeton ’26 for winning first place at the NCISAA 4A State Cross Country Championship!
John’s 15:08.08 5K time at the WakeMed course in Cary broke FCDS’s 5K record - which John had set only three weeks earlier. He also set a new NCIAA State Championship Meet record at WakeMed.
Coach Joe Scott praised John’s accomplishment. “John’s performance at the state championship meet is arguably the single greatest individual athletic performance by an FCDS athlete in school history,” he said. “He beat the number-one runner in the entire state on a course that is basically that runner’s home course. It was the culmination of an amazing season. Already an extremely promising runner, John embraced a new level of disciplined training this season that allowed him to compete with the very best. And he’s only getting started."
