FCDS Names Six to Fury Athletic Hall of Fame


Congratulations to the Fury Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Inductees! They are: Chris Rhyne ’06, Brey Dorset Johnson ’09, Kathleen Baker ’15, Tanner Beason ’15, Lindsey Ickes ’18, and Ben Mitchell ’18. These accomplished athletes will officially be inducted in a ceremony on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, in the Childress Activities Center. 

Chris Rhyne ’06
  • Lead the boys’ varsity tennis team to state championships in 2004, 2005, 2006
  • Two-time All-American tennis player
  • Four-time All-State tennis player
  • Four-time All-Conference tennis player
  • Ranked among the top 75 national tennis recruits
  • Captain at Furman University, leading multiple Southern Conference championship teams
Brey Dorsett Johnson ’09
  • 2009 PTAC 3A Player of the Year in NCISAA All-State Basketball Award
  • Two-time All-Conference basketball in 2008,2009
  • Winston-Salem Journal All-Northwest Girls’ Basketball Team
  • All-State softball 2009
  • Two-time softball MVP
  • Played basketball at UNC-G and Johnson C. Smith University
  • 2012-2013 All-CIAA basketball selection
  • Current professional basketball player in Europe/Canada
Kathleen Baker ’15
  • Two-time high school All-American

  • Most accomplished female swimmer in North Carolina history

  • Five-time USA Swimming National Champion

Tanner Beason ’15
  • Two-year starter at FCDS
